Pirate wins the Goodest Prize!
Woof! Thanks to Pirate, the little black-and-white dog Quil meets one magic day in a place called Hooper’s Bend, The Shop at Hooper’s Bend has won the 2018 Goodest Prize—a fun new award given for the best book featuring a dog.
The judges said that Pirate ‘plays the role of saviour, both emotional and physical, within the narrative’; ‘displays good doggish intuition, knowing who the bad characters are before the reader does’; displays ‘openness, even to people in gorilla suits’.
